Bad pictures aside, there’s a clean looking 65,000 mile ‘03 E39 !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Bimmer Work shows it as having a factory manual transmission, xenons, hifi speakers, and pass-through to the trunk. Minus the missing heated seats this would make for a nice daily driver, and the CD changer prep makes it easy to install a SoundPlicity unit from BAVSOUND.

I would miss my sport seats and stereo, but I would like it I think.

Or get a set of used sport seats and an upgrade from BAVSOUND. Still, it’s pretty neato, and has 100,000 less miles than my car.

You mean you wouldn’t consider a low mileage specimen of an extremely good sedan?

I’ve got 173k on my E46. I aim to retire it when it chucks a rod out the side of the block.

My dad bought a E46 M3 a year ago without the Harmon Kardon, even with 64k miles the speakers were tired. I’ve never used BAVSOUND but when he asked me what speakers to get I had him order some knowing I’d be the installer. I've put in to many speakers to remember but I've never had an easier installation, complealy direct fit, they sound great, 10/10 would recommend

I would tap that. Sell the E46 and jump here. Same odds on repairs for a better, larger car. NP at $6500

I have the feeling that is the fate of my E39. And I’ll probably be wanting to stick a M54B30 in there next...

I like to think I would get an S54 for mine if the M54 ever shit the bed.

I have always wanted an e39. Are they pure torment outside of actually driving them or can they be reasonably reliable?

I do not recall who it is, but there’s an Opponaut that is chronicling their E39 repairs and it sounds like there are some quirks that are annoying (leaking trunk seals, sunroof drains, etc). I don’t think torment is the right word, maybe like mildly infuriating?

I’m at 188k on my E46. Hope for the same.
